Dr. Katherine Grichnik has extensive executive experience across the spectrum of healthcare management, including strategic, operational, fiscal, and administrative responsibilities in a variety of settings. She is the Chief of Medical Officer at SCA Health, where she supports strategic partnerships and business models to create stakeholder value, ensures aligned and skilled anesthesiology professional services, and collaborates to enhance the quality of care, enhance facility operational success, ensure safety, create risk visibility, and support risk resolution.
Past roles include being the President of American Anesthesiology, the Vice President for Clinical Development and a Medical Director for Surgical Directions LLC, the CMO for the Cleveland Clinic’s Indian River Hospital, and the Vice President of Quality and Safety for the Mednax National Medical Group. She is a Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist who practiced for 22 years at the Duke University Health System, rising to Full Professor. While there, she also held progressive administrative leadership roles, including being the Associate Dean for CME, a founding member of the Duke Patient Safety Center, the Director of the Center for Educational Excellence, and the Director of the Chancellor’s Clinical Leadership Program. Dr. Grichnik earned her MD from Tufts University School of Medicine also earning AOA recognition. She completed her anesthesiology residency as well as thoracic, vascular and pain management fellowship training at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She completed a cardiac fellowship training at Duke University.
